For the second time this year, Glenn Whritenour scored a victory in Outlaw Speedway’s Street Stock feature. It’s a common place to find Whritenour, who has been a dominant force in the street stocks for a half-decade.

The opening round of laps were turned this weekend, with practice sessions dominating the headlines among Finger Lakes region tracks. Additional testing is set for the coming weeks, and with some seasonal cooperation, most tracks should open by the end of April.

The touring branches of the World Racing Group and DIRTcar have been busy, announcing changes to the Super DIRTcar Series year-end point fund. On a national scale, the Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series and Xtreme Outlaw Sprint Car Series will be added to the touring schedules.

The Short Track Super Series released new series information regarding the STSS Elite Program, which will include six events with notably high payouts and a significant year-end championship prize.

WATKINS GLEN — The NASCAR Xfinity Series will return to Watkins Glen International alongside the NASCAR Cup Series in late August next year as the sanctioning body today announced the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule.

The upcoming racing schedule includes a couple big events, leading into Super DIRT Week at Oswego. Both Fulton Speedway and Utica Rome Speedway will be hosting special events in the coming days.

I’ve had a week to digest the fact that I’m spending many hours at Watkins Glen International for NASCAR Go Bowling weekend. The feeling hasn’t gotten old, the butterflies have remained and I still can’t get quotes from “Talladega Nights” out of my head.

The weekend was loaded with racing action, but it was a tale of two strategies as multiple tracks welcomed touring series, while others went dormant with respect to local County Fair activities.
